Last year, I became a staff writer for a digital series called Sauce for Emmy-winning cable channel, BRIC TV. Sauce is the story of a black chef seeking reinvention and redemption after falling from grace. I’m proud to announce our work has already appeared as an Official Selection at the Seattle International Film Festival and will also be featured at the Hip Hop Film Festival here in New York in August.
I had the pleasure of returning to Deep $h*t at Quick Silver Theatre Company’s Playwrights of Color Summit in June. My work was featured in Geneva, NY as one of four solo shows written and performed by black women.
My first year as a resident artist with the SERIALS Writers Room was a success! DC Metro arts called us “some of the funniest emerging playwrights on today’s theater scene” and I’m excited to renew my contract for another season of late-night theater madness at The Flea. This spring, Liz Morgan wrote and starred in Flea Fridays, an immersive cabaret in residence at The Flea Theater. Last cycle, was a deeper provocation into the question: “How Color Brave Are You?” through the lens of appropriation, inspiration and representation. Stay tuned for more details about continued development of this vital project.
